Hallo,
a bit about me:
Life Sciences / Education / Nutrition
MeiChun Lai, Ph.D., is a Chinese social media and medical research consultant at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a nationwide organization of physicians, scientists, educators, and laypersons that promotes preventive medicine, especially good nutrition, and addresses controversies in modern medicine, including ethical and scientific issues in education and research.
Dr. Lai promotes alternatives to animal research by reviewing animal models in medical research fields -- including diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease -- and by working with decision-makers and the press. She is also in charge of the Chinese social media (Weibo) of the nutrition kickstart program to promote healthy living in China. Dr. Lai earned her master’s degree in cellular biology from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her Ph.D. in science education from the Ohio State University.
Before joining PCRM, Dr. Lai was an adjunct assistant professor at Capital University, Columbus, OH. She has extensive laboratory research experience using non-animal methods of research, such as bioinformatics, molecular cloning, cell culture and high-throughput microscopy for drug screening. Dr. Lai also has been active outside the lab, serving as a journalist for Supreme Master Television in both Taiwan and LA and as a professional lecturer for the Love Ocean Anti-Global Warming Education Center in Taiwan. She is a well-known blogger in Taiwan and was invited to film in popular TV shows such as the Woman Queen.
